I really wanted Watson to win!

Sorry for the lack-o-posts over the past couple days, I took a vacation to Blue Ridge, Georgia for some flyfishing and skeet shooting. šŸ™‚ Before you ask, no, I wasn’t able to get a round of golf in while I was there.

By the way, if you’ve never made the trip, Blue Ridge is a great place to unwind, it’s up in the mountains and is absolutely beautiful. I’ll post up some pictures in a few.

I’ve selected the 1st weeks winner for the newsletter contest, congratulations to Craig Noon from Oviedo, FL!

Craig won the golf ball prize pack which consists of:

  • Two sleeves of Caesar Featherie dimple-less golf balls.
  • A dozen TopFlite D2 Straight golf balls.
  • Two sleeves of TopFlite D2 Feel golf balls.
  • 6 Packages of GolfDotz ball markers.

Shame on me, but, since I was vacationing last week, I didn’t watch any of the 2009 British Open and could only follow bits and pieces. Imagine my surprise when I get back home and find out that not only did Tiger Woods miss the cut but Tom Watson almost clinched his 6th British Open victory at the age of 59!

Man, that would’ve been quite the cinderella story…. If you guy’s haven’t read it yet, you NEED to check out John Feinstein’s ā€œA Good Walk Spoiled.ā€ Tom Watson is mentioned quite a bit in the book and it talks about his unique relationship with the UK golf crowd. They affectionately refer to him as ā€œTome.ā€

Congratz to Stewart Cink, the first PGA Tour Professional to ever twitter about his victory!

stewartcinkNot sure what to say yet but this picture should do the trick… http://yfrog.com/7buoej

So, what’s up with Tiger Woods? Just a fluke? He’s played 10 events this year, finished 1st in three and made eight top ten finishes. How the heck does he miss the cut? Probably the kids preventing him from having a good nights rest! šŸ™‚
