Y.E Yang, the first asian male golfer to win a major.

Holy crap!

Can you believe it?!

Y.E Yang wins the 91st PGA Championship at Hazeltine, beating Tiger Woods by three shots. In this shocking, yet, welcome struggle of biblical proportions, this David and Goliath battle is one that will not soon be forgotten, well, atleast, not for another few days
Ofcourse, Y.E Yang instead of wielding a sling and a stone, was wielding a deadly 7I and a golf ball.

I love this picture of Tiger Woods and Y.E Yang over at PGATour.com.

They’re calling it one of the biggest upsets in history, Yang beating Woods, but I don’t really agree. Sure, it’s shocking and pretty damn surprising,  but it’s golf and many times (especially in majors) it’s “par for the course.” HA! 🙂

Not to beat a dead horse, but this is yet another one of those things we all love about watching golf, regardless of who’s resting in the #1 spot, come Sunday, by and large, it’s still anyone’s game.

Think about it, how many times have you thought, ok, well, Tiger’s about to bag another one, and as you are thinking about switching the channel, you stop yourself, saying, “wait, I better not, what if
” Those what-if’s keep us glued to the tube waiting and watching, anticipating that Sunday rally, where so-and-so catches a lucky break and now you have a “golf game.”

It’s another reason why fantasy golf is so difficult.. with a spread like that and with it being anyone’s game come Sunday, your best bet is to randomly pick names out of a hat.. 🙂

It’s pretty cool, Y.E Yang is the first Asian to ever win a Major Championship. They’re anticipating a huge spike in golf interest over in  South Korea and Japan.

There’s not a whole lot of information about Mr. Yang, but he picked up golf at 19, which gives me a little ray of hope, that perhaps by the age of 37, I might actually have something that resembles a golf swing! 🙂 He served his two years of mandatory service in the South Korean Military and then at the age of 21, moved to New Zealand to make golf a profession. Similar to Tiger Woods, he injured his knee while learning to use an excavator for a construction company
 He’s married with three children.

He turned pro in 1996 and has nine professional wins under his belt.
